Former Hoya Basketball Player Ron Blaylock to be Honored at Patrick Healy Dinner

Nov. 3, 2006

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University President John J. DeGioia, the African American Advisory Board and the Office of Advancement will honor former Hoya basketball player Ronald E. Blaylock (B'82) with the Samuel A. Halsey, Jr. Award at the annual Patrick Healy Dinner tonight. Blaylock will also be featured as a guest speaker.

The dinner is in honor of Patrick Healy, the first African-American president of a major university, who transformed Georgetown from a small college into a modern university. The event will raise funds for the Patrick Healy Scholarship, awarded annually via the Office of Financial Aid.

Blaylock is the founder, chairman and CEO of Blaylock & Company. He was a member of Georgetown's first Final Four basketball team. A four-year letterwinner, he played in 71 games grabbing 48 rebounds and scoring 109 points, averaging 1.5 per game.
