Meet the Hall of Famers

December 30, 2006

When Georgetown restored varsity football in 1970, its future was still uncertain in the minds of many.
There was no doubt, however, in the mind of one individual: head coach Scotty Glacken.
Without the determined perseverance of Scotty and his coaching staff, Georgetown
football would not have survived and prospered.

Scotty served as head coach of the Hoyas from 1970 to 1992, spanning the entire length of
Georgetown's football participation in NCAA Division III. With 98 victories during
his 23-year tenure, he is the winningest coach in Georgetown football history.

Scotty and his dedicated staff of assistant coaches twice coached teams ranked among the
top-10 college squads in the East. The 1978 team closed at 7-1, Georgetown's
best record since 1939, falling one point short of finishing the
season undefeated. His 1991 team combined for school record
marks in total offense as well as passing offense.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions and integral place in the annals of
Georgetown football, the name of

E. Scott Glacken

is permanently inscribed in the Georgetown University Athletic Hall of Fame
among the names of the greatest coaches and administrators in the history of the University.

Given this day, the second of February, in the year of 2002.
