Georgetown Men's Lacrosse Scrimmage Moved to Friday Night

Feb. 10, 2006

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University men's lacrosse team will play at the University of Virginia on Friday night in a preseason scrimmage. The game is slated to start at approximately 7 p.m.

The team's were originally scheduled to play on Saturday at 1 p.m., but expected inclement weather in the area forced the game to be moved up a day.

The Hoyas were ranked No. 8 in the county in preseason rankings released by Lacrosse magazine recently, while Virginia was tabbed fourth.

The rankings, compiled by Lacrosse magazine staff with consultations from coaches and other members of the press, tabbed Duke as the preseason No. 1 team in the country.

The Hoyas return eight starters from a team that went 10-5 last season, advancing to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Georgetown is one of only two schools in the country to reach the NCAA Quarterfinals in each of the last four years and is one of only three schools to reach the NCAA Tournament in each of the last nine years.

Georgetown opens the 2006 regular season on Saturday, February 25, hosting Maryland at the Multi-Sport Field on the Hilltop.
