Kurtis Kaull, C'83

May 12, 2000

Kurt Kaull's accomplishments as a Georgetown student-athlete place him among the most elite to ever put on a Hoya uniform. During the 1980 baseball season, Kurt batted .406 for the Hoyas. Along with his teammate, Mike Messenger (.426), the pair became the first two Georgetown teammates to bat over .400 in the same season. Following his sophomore and junior seasons, Kurt was selected to play in the prestigious Cape Cod Summer Baseball League, the top summer league in the country for college players. He led the league in RBIs and played in the league all-star game both seasons. During his senior season on the Hilltop, Kurt led the country in hitting for a portion of the season and finished the year second. Kurt left Georgetown with nine single-season and career records on the baseball diamond. He still holds the record for most base hits in a season with 86 and most total bases in a season with 139.

Kurt's abilities on the baseball field are virtually unparalleled in the storied history of Georgetown Baseball. However, it was his versatility that allowed him to be recruited and contribute as a member of John Thompson's men's basketball team. During Kurt's basketball career, the Hoyas defeated the #1 ranked Missouri Tigers in McDonough Arena. In addition, Kurt was a part of one of the most famous games in Georgetown Basketball history---the 1982 NCAA Championship game against North Carolina.

Following his stellar career at Georgetown, the St. Louis Cardinals selected Kurt in the 8th round of the Major League Baseball draft. He spent three years in the minor leagues advancing to the Triple A level. After his playing days were over, Kurt returned to the Hilltop to begin a program leading to a J.D./M.B.A. during his second stint on the Hilltop, Kurt served as a valuable assistant coach to the baseball team for three years.

Kurt is now a partner at American Industrial Partners, a private investment firm in San Francisco, CA. He will celebrate his 5th wedding anniversary later this year with his wife Pam Hamamoto. They have two children, Justin, 3, and Jessica, 15 months.
