WASHINGTON - Georgetown University ranked No. 7 in the country in the Division I Learfield Directors' Cup current fall standings, which were released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) for the first time this academic year on Tuesday.
The Hoyas ranked No. 7 nationally with 242.5 points. Georgetown is first among all 10 ranked BIG EAST Conference teams and also second among non-FBS teams.
This is the 11th-consecutive year that Georgetown has been ranked among the top-25 teams in the country at this point of the season in the standings.
Sport Rankings
- The Hoyas were aided in their top-25 standing by earning 73 points from men's soccer who tied for fifth place in the nation.
- Women's soccer was close behind with 64 points after a ninth-place finish.
- Georgetown received 61.5 points from the women's cross country team, which finished 14th at the NCAA Championship.
- Men's cross country rounded out the scoring with 44 points after a 30th-place finish.
About the Division I Learfield Directors' Cup
- The Division I Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between NACDA and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
- The final fall standings for Division I and Division III will be released after the Bowl Games, FCS Championship and Division III Football Championship in January.
