Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown men's tennis team lost a 4-2 decision to seventh-seeded DePaul today in the playoff match for seventh/eighth at the BIG EAST Championship, held at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts in Tampa, Fla. The Hoyas finished eighth at the BIG EAST Championship and with a 6-14 overall record.
The Hoyas lost 2-of-3 doubles matches to give the Blue Demons a 1-0 advantage going into singles play.
Junior Bert Baggio (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) suffered a decisive loss at the fourth singles position as the Hoyas fell to a 2-0 deficit. Wins from junior Kevin Killeavy (Indian Harbor Beach, Fla./Melbourne Central Catholic) and sophomore Etienne Paris (Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades) at fifth and first singles, respectively, would even the score at two apiece with three matches to play.
Sophomore Theodore Tywang (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell Academy) and senior Eric Conrad (Gloucester, Mass./St. John's Prep) would both lose a tight three-set match for the 4-2 DePaul victory.
