Washington, D.C. -- The Georgetown University women's basketball team announced the dates of its 2006-07 schedule. The Hoyas will take on 13 non-league opponents in addition to 16 BIG EAST Conference contests.
Georgetown will tip-off the season under third-year head coach Terri Williams-Flournoy Saturday, November 11 when it hosts Towson. The following weekend, GU travels to Honalulu, Hawaii to participate in the Hawaii Invitational along with Oklahoma and Eastern Kentucky.
After a November 22 home game with Fordham, the Hoyas will embark on a season-long five-game road trip with contests at East Tennessee State (11/24), Appalachian State (11/25), Mount St. Mary's (11/29), American (12/2) and Navy (12/4).
Thursday, December 7, Georgetown hosts Connecticut in the BIG EAST opener for both schools. It also marks the beginning of the Hoyas' longest homestand of the year, a five-game stretch. Georgetown welcomes Florida Atlantic (12/9), Penn State (12/17), Savannah State (12/20), and Utah to McDonough Arena to close out the 2006 calendar year.
The 2006-07 season marks the second of the expanded BIG EAST Conference. Georgetown will play all 15 schools one time with home-and-home meetings with Cinicinnati.
