TIME OUT!

This posting will conclude the photographic review of the Hoyas' March Madness run through the 2007 post-season. BUT first, a tip of the hat to the Hoya soccer women for their finest season ever. It came to an end last evening in Charlottesville in a closely-fought first round game of the NCAA tournament versus William & Mary. Coach Dave Nolan's foot-ballers finished the year with fourteen victories, most in the programs' history.

Congrats also go to soccer advocates and patrons Ed '66 and Irene Shaw as well as to the many young women over the past 17 years who helped to build this program and to achieve this post-season goal.

Hoya, hoya saxa!

A Final Four send-off

Now - back to basketball. Thursday night's game against Michigan was an impressive outing by the deep and talented Hoya hoop men. Will it be possible to sustain that focus and intensity throughout the season? Let's hope.

Similar efforts last season produced a spectacular 19-1 run from mid-January through the end of March and propelled coach Thompson and his team all the way to the Final Four in Atlanta into a berth in the NCAA semifinals versus the Ohio State Buckeyes. There, playing in the biggest game of his career to-date, Roy Hibbert gave one of his best offensive performances, in spite of limited playing time due to foul trouble.

Despite falling in the semifinals, the experiences of the Final Four weekend in the Dogwood City were unforgettable. The thousands of Hoya fans who joined with our wonderful Georgetown alums living in Atlanta were treated to a special and extended weekend of Hoya hoopla.

This posting concludes the photographic review of the Hoyas' March Madness run through the 2007 post-season. Clicking on any of the galleries listed below will provide additional photos from the 2007 Final Four.
