Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University softball team lost two games today on the first day of the Hoya Invitational held at Guy Mason Field. In the second inning against Radford, with runners on first and second, a fielding error by Radford's right fielder, Anne Tatum, put sophomore Katherine Incantalupo (Forest Hills, N.Y./Townsend Harris) on first while senior Cathy Richter (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) scored and gave the Hoyas a 1-0 edge.

Radford came right back and scored a run in the bottom of the second inning to tie the game at one run apiece.

In the top of the third inning, a bunt single off the bat of Garcia and a free pass to Peters put Hoya runners on first and second with no outs. Freshman Olivia Newhouse nailed a two-run double to center field, scoring Garcia and Peters and giving Georgetown the 3-1 lead.

A four-run third inning gave Radford a 5-3 edge and they went on to score three runs in the fourth and one in the fifth and sixth innings for the 10-3 victory.

Freshman pitcher Sarah Kamenski put in six innings of work and allowed 10 runs on 13 this.

The Hoyas picked up five hits against the Highlanders. Newhouse went 1-for-3 on a double and recorded two RBI. Pinch-hitter Connell went 1-for-1 on a seventh-inning double to center field.
