Georgetown Men's Tennis Swept by No. 20 Clemson

April 16, 2007

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 setback in a match against No. 20 Clemson (Fila/ITA Rankings) on Sunday at the Tennis Center at College Park in College Park, Md. The Tigers picked up a clean sweep as they won all nine matches (3 doubles, 6 singles) without dropping a set.

Wins at the first and third doubles positions guaranteed the Tigers the doubles point to start the day.

In singles action, freshman Will Lowell (Nahant, Mass./Saddlebrook Prep) was able to pick up seven games against the 122nd-ranked Clement Reix of Clemson. Junior Ted Tywang (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell Academy) was the last to step off the court after pushing his opponent to a 6-3, 6-3 decision.

This was the last scheduled match of the regular season for the Hoyas (12-8, 3-1 BE). The team awaits notification of a bid to the BIG EAST Conference tournament in Tampa, Fla. at USF. Notification will occur later today.
