Swimming and Diving Holds Annual Awards Banquet

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University swimming and diving program held its annual awards banquet last Saturday at Maggiano's Restaurant in Tysons Corner, Va. The Hoyas celebrated the 2006-07 season when they broke 14 school records - 13 at the BIG EAST Championship, qualified 24 student-athletes and earned CSCAA (College Swimming Coaches Association of America) Academic All-America honors.

Head Coach Steven Cartwright gave out the Coach's Award to junior Caitlin Colling (Monson, Mass./Monson) and freshman CJ Chuapoco (Milpitas, Calif./Bellarmine College Prep). Junior Claire Nugent (Westport, Conn./The Hopkins School) and freshman Wes Going (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis University High) were the recipients of the Most-Improved Award.

Rounding out the award recipients were freshman Laura Stark (Martinsville, N.J./Mount St. Mary Academy) and sophomore Michael McWilliams (Potomac, Md./Gonzaga High) who received the Rev. Frank Fadner, S.J. Most Valuable Award.
