Washington DC - Fifteen contests with opponents who appeared in post season tournaments last season (including a matchup with an NCAA Elite Eight team and a game with the NIT Champion) highlight the 2007-08 Georgetown University Men's Basketball schedule. The BIG EAST and NCAA East Region Champions Hoyas have 12 nationally televised games, including a pair of late season contests on CBS.
GU's home slate of BIG EAST opponents will open on January 12 when the Hoyas host Connecticut on ESPN at the Verizon Center. The Verizon Center will also be the site for Georgetown's meeting with Notre Dame (24-8 NCAA) on January 19 and with Syracuse (24-11 NIT) (ESPN) two days later. February sees the Hoyas host Seton Hall on February 2, South Florida on the 5th, Villanova (22-11 NCAA) on the 11th (ESPN), Cincinnati on the 23rd and St John's on the 27th. Georgetown ends the regular season on March 8 when they host Louisville (24-10 NCAA) on CBS.
BIG EAST road matchups begin with a pair to open the new year- at Rutgers on January 5 and at DePaul (20-14 NIT) on January 8. The Hoyas will reprise last year's BIG EAST Championship game when they visit Pittsburgh (29-8 NCAA) on January 14 (ESPN) and face the NIT Champions when they visit West Virginia (26-9 NIT) on January 26 (ESPN). After closing January at St. John's on January 30 the Hoyas travel to Louisville (24-10 NCAA) on February 9 (ESPN), Syracuse (24-11 NIT) on February 16 (ESPN) and Providence (18-13 NIT) on February 18 (ESPN2). The Hoyas close the regular season road slate with a trip to Marquette (23-11 NCAA) on March 1 (CBS).
Georgetown's non conference slate will include a game at Memphis (33-4 NCAA) on December 22 (ESPN), a visit to Old Dominion (24-9 NCAA) on November 28 and the Hoyas will host Michigan (22-13 NIT) on November 15. Georgetown opens the 2007-08 campaign with William & Mary on November 10 and will host Fairfield on December 1, Jacksonville on December 9, American on December 29 and Fordham on the New Year's Eve. The Hoyas non-conference away slate will also include a visit to Ball State on November 21 and a contest at Alabama (20-12 NIT) as part of the BIG EAST/SEC Invitational on December 5 (ESPN). McDonough Arena will also be a home site for the Hoyas as they face Radford on December 15.
This year, Georgetown games will be carried by WTEM with the "Voice of the Hoyas", Rich Chvotkin at the mic.
