Women's Basketball to Open the Season at Jacksonville State

Nov. 15, 2008

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will open the 2008-09 season Sunday afternoon in Jacksonville, Ala., versus the Jacksonville State Gamecocks. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. CST, at the Pete Mathews Coliseum. The Gamecocks enter the game with a loss from their home opener Friday evening.

Georgetown will have a new look in 2008-09 with seven freshmen and only four players with more than one year of intercollegiate experience. Head Coach Terri Williams-Flournoy and her staff have brought in the sixth-ranked recruiting class in the nation according to Mike Flynn's Blue Star Report and a number of those players may see significant minutes.

The Hoyas announced their 2009-10 signings on Friday; the staff has once again brought in a nationally-recognized class with three players signing National Letters of Intent. So far the group has been ranked 12th by the Blue Star Report and USA Today as well as 21st by the All-Star Girls Report.

Live stats for Sunday's matchup will be available at the Jacksonville State athletic website.
