DesJardin Named NSCAA Mid-Atlantic All-Region

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University women's soccer player Jackie DesJardin (Sunnyvale, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) was named to the Mid-Atlantic Region Third Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Wednesday. The sophomore goalkeeper continued her charge on the goalkeeping records, breaking her own single-season shutout tally with nine clean sheets. Her 120 career saves and 16 shutouts have her fourth and second on the all-time lists, respectively.

DesJardin was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll numerous times during the 2008 season for her outstanding play on the pitch. She also brought home Third Team All-BIG EAST honors along with being named a regional academic All-American for her work in the classroom. The sophomore also helped the Hoyas set a new team records f or shutouts in a season (11) and fewest goals allowed (14). Her 0.74 goals-against average ranked sixth in the conference and she also attained a .843 save percentage, good for fourth in the league.

The 2008 season was a successful one for the Georgetown women's soccer program as the team attained their best BIG EAST regular-season finish (8-3-0, 24 points) and finished one win shy of the single-season record.
