Georgetown to Play Virginia Commonwealth on Sunday

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will finish up a busy week with a Sunday showdown in Richmond, Va., versus the Virginia Commonwealth Rams. The Hoyas downed James Madison on Friday evening to improve to 7-1 on the season. This game will be GU's last before almost a two-week break for finals.

A pair of freshmen are leading the way for the Hoyas with Adria Crawford (Alexandria, Va./Thomas Edison) on top in both points and rebounds averaging 10.1 ppg and 7.6 rpg. She is followed by classmate Latia Magee (Jenks, Okla./Jenks) who has 9.0 ppg on the season and put together a 19-point performance against the Dukes on Friday. Georgetown has been solid on the defensive end of the court holding opponents to just 54.6 ppg and boasting an 8.2 rebounding margin after eight games.

The Hoyas are 4-0 again VCU in the all-time series. Last season, in Washington, D.C., Georgetown defeated the Rams 57-43. In that game, Jaleesa Butler (St. Louis, Mo./Alton) had 10 points and Shanice Fuller (Chesapeake, Va./Indian River)contributed six. VCU is currently 4-1 on the season.
