Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's basketball team (13-9, 3-6 BE) looks for its third straight victory when the Hoyas travel to face top-ranked Connecticut (22-1, 9-1) in a BIG EAST Conference tilt on Tuesday night, February 12, inside Gampel Pavilion in Storrs. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
Georgetown has won back-to-back BIG EAST games for the first time since February, 2006 with wins over No. 22 Syracuse and St. John's.
GU's three league wins has already matched its BIG EAST win total after the Hoyas won three league games in each of the last two years.
UConn and their fans will participate in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) "Think Pink" initiative to raise awareness for breast cancer.
The Georgetown coaches and student-athletes participated in the "Think Pink" initiative last Wednesday in its home game vs. St. John's by wearing pink shoelaces, pink headbands and pink t-shirts during warmups. The coaching staff wore pink shirts and ties on the sidelines. Georgetown will join the Huskies in the effort tonight.

Hoyas in the Series with Connecticut ...UConn has dominated the all-time series, 37-6 and the Huskies have won 20 straight games dating back to the January, 1994. The last GU win in Connecticut came on Feb. 27, 1993, a 64-62 Hoya victory.
Georgetown senior forward Kieraah Marlow is averaging 14.6 points and 5.3 rebounds in three games vs. the Huskies.
Fast Breaks ... Georgetown started 6-0 at home for the first time since the 1996-97 campaign.
-- Georgetown ranks sixth in the BIG EAST allowing 58.6 points per game.
-- Georgetown is 11-1 when they hold the lead with five minutes to go. GU led 48-45 with five minutes to go at Marquette but couldn't hold on.
-- Opponents have shot the basketball better than the Hoyas in seven of the nine league games but in the two games where the Hoyas had a better field goal percentage (Seton Hall and Syracuse), GU was victorious. Georgetown outshot Seton Hall, 46% - 36% and GU won the game, 57-56. The Hoyas also outshot the Orange, 49% - 41% to earn the seven-point win. The Hoyas topped St. John's, 61-60 last Wednesday despite the fact that the Red Storm outshot GU, 41 percent to 33 percent.
-- Senior co-captain and leading scorer Kieraah Marlow connected on her 500th career field goal vs. Brown and reached the 1,500-point mark vs. Seton Hall. She's made 45.6 percent of the field goals over her career (538-1,181). She became the seventh member of the Hoya program to knock down at least 500 FG's. Kieraah Marlow's 34 points vs. Notre Dame is the single-game high for a BIG EAST player in league action this season.
After going through a stretch of single-digit scoring in three straight games (SHU, WVU, MU), Marlow has tallied 19 points and 11 points in consecutive wins over Syracuse and St. John's.
Diop Continuting Steady Play in the Post ... Senior 6-5 center Aminata Diop, a transfer from Southeastern Illinois J.C., averaged 6.1points and 5.3 rebounds a year ago in her first season in the Blue and Gray.
The native of Senegal, on the western coast of Africa, hit 45 percent of her field goals and notched two double-doubles last season. Diop, who speaks four languages, English, French, Dutch and Wolof (native to Senegal) had her third career double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds vs. Navy this season.
In her 18 starts, Diop is averaging 7.6 points on 51 percent shooting (58-113) and 3.6 rebounds. The center has scored 11 points in each of the last two games.
Cox Getting in a Rhythm ... Sophomore Meredith Cox had a season-high 12 points on five field goals and two treys at Fordham. Cox matched the 12 points at Cincinnati and matched her career-high with four three pointers.
Thirty five of her 45 made field goals a year ago were from three-point land.
Thirty of her 42 field goals this season are from long range.
Cox led the team in scoring for the first time all season last Wednesday vs. St. John's with 13 points, including two three pointers.
Scouting Connecticut ... Connecticut (22-1, 9-1 BE) entered the week ranked No. 1 in the nation despite coming off 73-71 to No. 7 Rutgers last Tuesday.
The Huskies boast four players in double-figures, led by all-everything freshman Maya Moore.
