Georgetown Head Coach John Thompson III
On the team's performance:
"What we do is about us. You've heard me say that for three years now, who you play is irrelevant, it's a way and a level that you have to do things that you should do things, so who you play is irrelevant."
On South Florida:
"You watch the tapes of their games and most of their games they have been in. They are a very well coached team, there is no doubt about that and they have some pretty good players, so lets not lose sight of all that. That's a very good team in terms of their personnel, it's a very good team in terms of their preparation and their coaching staff. They haven't been on the winning end in conference play that much this year, but they're a team that you have to go about our business like we do regardless of what name is across their chest. "
On DaJuan Summers:
"He got nine rebounds. Everyone knows he can score and has scored in different ways, but just the effort and attentiveness he showed in pursuing rebounds I thought was key today."
On Georgetown's overall rebounding effort:
"Overall I think our rebounding, and maybe it's the first time you can say this this year, our rebounding got us through tonight. I thought we did a pretty good job on the boards against a team that gets a lot more than six offensive rebounds and a lot more opportunities for second shots and I think we did a good job of limiting that."
DaJuan Summers
On his offensive game:
"I was just trying to be aggressive as I usually am, but the rest of the games I wasn't 100% health and ankle wise. I was trying to be more physical today and not just shoot the basketball and try to attack of the dribble."
On his rebounding:
"That's been a conscious effort throughout the year, just trying to go after the rebounds harder, whether I'm getting them or stopping my man from getting them."
On his ankle:
"I wouldn't say 100% but it's better than it was the past couple of games."
"I was kind of open for a lot of my shots, so I was just knocking them down, and as a team we usually do that. One guy's open making their shots so it could've been anybody tonight."
"We're just trying to be more conscious of it. Early in the season we didn't rebound like we should have. We've been working on it in practice."
Jessie Sapp
"They played good defense early on and we were also impatient at times. We calmed down in the second half and late in the first half. Then we got everything in order and picked up where we should've been in the first half. DaJuan just kept going and we all just starting getting rebounds more and other things started coming around for us."
"We're comfortable and we believe in what Coach wants us to do. He always tells us that if we continue to do the things we're supposed to do that we'll be successful. When we're down like that, we just continue to go through our offense and do things the way we're supposed to do them and the outcome will come out on top."
South Florida Head Coach Stan Heath
On the Overall Game:
"I was proud of the effort. We put it out there, we gave our hearts and it's not easy to overcome the adversity going on. We've played a very, very good Georgetown team and we went wire to wire for the most part."
On South Florida's Effort:
"We defended really well. I wish we did a better job rebounding wise especially the offensive rebounding that they got against us, but that's a team that most people have a hard time guarding and we did a pretty good job. To battle their patients offensively and make them guard us to, we went down the wire. I can't fault our effort, I can't fault the way the guys played out there together."
On South Florida's Season:
"Our two past games on the road, we have done a pretty good job against very good basketball teams. I think that even though we're not seeing the "W" behind the games, I think we see a team that isn't disconcerted even though we haven't seen a win on the road but we want to do that."
