STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Georgetown University softball team fell to the No. 21 ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs for the second time in two days at the Bulldog Bully Bash, losing 7-2 to the Bulldogs.
Sophomore Jennifer Connell (Roswell, Ga./Roswell) took the loss, allowing seven runs, four earned, on nine hits over 6.0 innings. Sophomore Samantha Peters (Suwanee, Ga./Collins Hill) homered for the Hoyas, her tenth of the season and sophomore Suria Bahadue (Miami, Fla./Monsignor Edward Pace) went 2-for-3 to spark the Hoyas offense.
The Bulldogs jumped out early, scoring five runs in the first two innings to take the Hoyas out of the game early. In the top of the fourth inning Peters hit a one-out home run over the left field wall, giving the Hoyas its first run against the Bulldogs in two games. MSSU would respond adding a run in the bottom of the fourth to take a 5-1 lead.
In the top of the sixth inning, freshman Aimee Moffat (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) singled to drive in sophomore Demetria Cipriano (Coral Springs, Fla./Coral Springs Charter), making the score 7-2. That would be as close the Hoyas would come, falling to Mississippi State by the same score.
