Coach Williams-Flournoy Adds Seventh Newcomer for Next Season

May 27, 2008

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University head women's basketball coach Terri Williams-Flournoy announced that RubyLee Wright (Latta, S.C./Latta) has signed a national letter of intent to join the Hoya program in the Fall of 2008.

Wright, a 5-3 guard, was named South Carolina Miss Basketball following her senior year at Latta High School after leading the Lady Vikings deep into the Class A playoffs.

Wright averaged 20.4 points, 6.7 assists, 4.8 steals and 4.6 rebounds in her final prep season. She finished her illustrious career with 2,507 points, averaging 18.8 points, 5.2 assists and 3.9 steals in 133 contests for Latta head coach Jeff Bley.

Wright was also named MVP of the 2008 Carolinas All-Star Classic with a 17-point, five-assist performance in South Carolina's 81-66 win over North Carolina.

"RubyLee has shown she can be a great backcourt player," said Williams-Flournoy. "She has the ability to run the offense and can create shots for herself. She'll add some quickness to our roster which will help as we'll try to add to our uptempo game."

Wright's Lady Vikings won the 2007 Class A state title.

Wright is the final signee for an incoming Hoya recruiting class that was ranked sixth nationally by Mike Flynn's Blue Star Report and 18th nationally by HoopGurlz.com.

Wright will sport the Blue and Gray Hoya jersey in the upcoming 2008-08 season, joining...

Adria Crawford (Alexandria, Virginia/Thomas Edison), a 6-0 guard
Latia Magee (Jenks, Okla./Jenks), a 6-2 forward
Tia McBride (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame), a 6-1 forward
Amanda Reese (Houston, Texas/Episcopal) at 6-2 forward
Alexa Roche (Bellmore, N.Y./St. Michael's Academy), a 6-0 forward
Morgan Williams (Dickinson, Texas/Dickinson), a 5-9 guard
