WASHINGTON, D.C. - Georgetown University Head Swimming and Diving Coach Steven Cartwright has announced the Class of 2012, consisting of 14 student-athletes, nine men and five women, which will begin competition for the Hoyas for the 2008-09 academic year. The class is Cartwright's second since being named Head Coach in April of 2007.
"The coaching staff is quite excited about our incoming class this year," head coach Cartwright said. "This class is filled with a lot of talent and certainly fills some spots. All of these individuals have both the ability and experience to make a contribution to the program right away as we continue to move forward in the BIG EAST Conference. We are looking forward to welcoming them to the Hilltop in August and are eager to see how they progress in the pool as well as contribute to our academic success over the next four years."
His initial class included 14 student-athletes, comprised 12 swimmers and two divers. All 12 of the freshmen swimmers qualified for the BIG EAST Championships in 2008.

Chris Finnegan (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) Captain of high school swim team in 2007-08 season ... Six-year member of the Garden City Varsity swim team ... 10-year member of the Long Island Aquatic Club ...Three-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American (2006-08) ... N.Y. Robert Gokey (Minot, N.D./Minot) Four-year letterwinner in swimming and tennis, serving as the swim team captain for one year ... Named All-State First Team swimming for two years ... His Minot team won a state championship in each of his four years.
David Heckler (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) Four-year letterwinner at North Central, served as team captain during his senior year ... An eight-time Indiana State High School finalist ... Five-time sectional champion and four-time All-Conference athlete ... Selected to Academic All-Conference team four times.
Trevor Kosmo (Goleta, Calif./Dos Pueblos) Four-year letterwinner at Dos Pueblos ... Named a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American in 2008 ...Named a CIF Finalist and earned the CIF Academic Award three times ... Member of a three-time league champion team (2005, 2006, 2008).
