Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University women's soccer player Ingrid Wells (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair) will be highlighted on this week's episode of Inside the BIG EAST. The redshirt sophomore spent last season helping the U. S. U-20 Women's National Team to the 2008 FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup. Currently, she is one of the players on the 2009 M.A.C Hermann Trophy Watch List, the award given to the top player in women's soccer.
Wells was recently named to the BIG EAST's Weekly Honor Roll for her performances this past weekend. She scored two goals, including the game-winner against Louisville, and assisted on the game-winner against Cincinnati. She also became the fifth different Hoya this season to be honored with a weekly award by the BIG EAST.
This season, Wells leads the BIG EAST in assists and is ranked ninth in the country with nine helpers. Her 23 points rank her second in the conference behind Villanova's Kaitlin Ryan. In the Georgetown record books, Wells ranks second all-time in assists with 22, three behind teammate Sara Jordan (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central), eighth in points and 16th in goals scored.
In her freshman season, Wells was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Year and became the first Hoya to earn First Team All-BIG EAST and NSCAA/Adidas National All-American honors. She also finished eighth nationally in assists per game, averaging 0.59 per contest and dished out 13 assists, tying her with Nicole DePalma for the GU single-season record.
