Box Score

Miami, Fla. - The Georgetown University softball team (0-2) dropped its second game of day to Florida Gulf Coast University (4-2), 9-0 on Friday afternoon at the FIU Tournament in Miami, Fla. Junior SS Samantha Peters (Suwanee, Ga./Collins Hill) managed the Hoyas only hit against Eagles' pitcher Catherine McDaniel, who pitched five innings for the complete game shut out.

The Eagles struck quickly, scoring six runs in the first inning, as Samantha Waldron's three-run triple put FGCU on the board. The Eagles would score three more runs, all coming from RBI doubles to take a commanding 6-0 lead.

Waldron would again get things started for FGCU in the bottom of the third, leading off with a double. Jessica Carter's triple would drive her in, before Carter scored on a balk. The Eagles added one more run in the fourth inning to take an insurmountable nine run advantage.
