Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University junior guard Shanice Fuller (Chesapeake, Va./Indian River) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday after an outstanding week for the Hoyas who went 2-0. Fuller averaged 18.0 ppg and hit the game winner in GU's 73-72 victory at Syracuse on Sunday evening. This is her first career BIG EAST weekly award.
Fuller had a huge game against the Orange Sunday evening scoring a team-high 17 points including the game-winning shot with 18 seconds on the clock. She was a perfect 6-of-6 at the line and also had two rebounds, as many assists and four steals. Against West Virginia earlier in the week, the junior had 19 points, four rebounds and four steals.
Fuller is ranked third on the team in scoring averaging 8.5 ppg and 3.4 rpg. This was GU's second meeting against the Orange and once again the junior led the squad. In a Georgetown win in January, Fuller posted 25 points for the Hoyas.
Georgetown went 2-0 on the week to continue a four-game win streak and improve to 17-10 overall as well as 7-7 in the BIG EAST. GU has already tied its best record since 2000-01 and the top conference mark since 2004-05 in Head Coach Terri Williams-Flournoy's first season on the Hilltop.
The Hoyas will host Villanova on Saturday at McDonough Arena at 3 p.m. Prior to tip off, there will be a ceremony honoring GU's three seniors. Live stats and a webcast featuring Drew Wiseman will be available at www.GUHoyas.com.
