Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University men's tennis team was swept this weekend in New Haven, Conn., by Yale (6-0), USC-Upstate (5-1) and Stony Brook (5-2). Junior David Tillem (Atlanta, Ga./The Weber School) won his matches at No. 2 singles against Stony Brook and USC-Upstate and kept it close with three-time All-Ivy League selection Michael Caldwell of Yale.

"We started with Stony Brook and had our chances in that match," Head Coach Gordie Ernst said. "Then we went up against Yale, who was clearly the best team that we played this weekend and they were also the hosts. Today against USC-Upstate we played with some fight, more so than the other two matches it seemed. That's a positive for us moving forward, knowing that we have to put forth a concentrated effort every time we step on the court."

"I think our freshman learned a lot this weekend," Ernst added. "They played against some very tough competition and hopefully it pays off for us once we get outside in March and play teams in those conditions.

The team has off this week before heading down to Chapel Hill, N.C. for a match with North Carolina on Friday, February 20.
