WASHINGTON, D.C. - Georgetown University Men's Basketball Coach John Thompson today announced that Omar Wattad will leave Georgetown at the end of the semester. Wattad, a 6-5, 225 lb sophomore guard/forward from Johnson City, Tenn., averaged 2.6 points 1.4 rebounds this season.
"Omar will not return to Georgetown next year," Coach Thompson said. "We wish Omar the best in his future."
Wattad was a two time all-state selection at Science Hill where he holds the record as all-time leading scorer with 2,191 points. Omar set his college career highs in scoring (9) and rebounding (5) vs Tennessee on 11/28/08. He played in 25 games this season averaging 11.1 minutes per game.
