As any readers of my HHC blog contributions know by now, out of town Hoya fans often have to go to creative lengths to see games in person. Us Chicagoans grab the schedule as soon as it comes out, looking for road games against DePaul, Marquette, and Notre Dame. We take particular interest in the opponents of Saturday home games and hope for cheap ORD-DCA flights in the winter.

Once I got assigned to a work project in Buffalo in early November, I checked the Hoya schedule, thinking I might finally get a chance to see our team play in the famed Carrier Dome. Hmm, Big Monday in January. As it happens, of course, it was the Monday following our last day in Buffalo.

One more chance came up with a 2-week extension, but unfortunately a Tuesday morning presentation will preclude my 2.5 hour-each-way drive to the game. Instead, what could be better than watching the game, in the heart of Western New York, with my Syracuse-grad project director?

Wish me luck at the NY sports bars; if I come out alive, I'll see you all for the Duke game this weekend.
