BETHLEHEM, Pa. - BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Georgetown University men's tennis team clinched the doubles point and then took four of the six singles matches to defeat the Lehigh Mountain Hawks, 5-2.
After Lehigh captured the top doubles match, the Hoyas, behind Will Lowell (Nahant, Mass./Saddlebrook Prep (Fla.) and Anthony Tan (Jakarta, Indonesia/Anglo-Chinese Junior College) won the second pairing, 8-6. David Tillem (Atlanta, Ga./The Weber School) and Charlie Caris (Des Moines, Iowa/Theodore Roosevelt) also won the third doubles match 8-6 to clinch the team point.
Tillem earned a victory over Collin Laffey, 6-2, 6-3 in the second singles match and Tan defeated Leland Richardson 7-6, 6-3 in the third singles match to give Georgetown a 3-0 lead. The Hoyas would fall in No. 4 singles, but Lowell defeated Ryan Krueger in the No. 5 spot to clinch the match for Georgetown. Tim Walsh (Bernardsville, N.J./Delbarton) iced the match, winning the No. 6 match in three sets over Andrew Krentz, 4-6, 6-4, 10-7.
The Hoyas travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to take on the Penn Quakers on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m.
