WASHINGTON - Junior Rebecca Jenkinson (Concord, Mass./Concord Carlisle) and Angela Pontes (Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis) will compete this weekend at the 2010 NCAA Zone A Diving Meet hosted by Rutgers University and held at the Sonny Werblin Recreation Center. Both divers achieved a qualifying score against Maryland earlier this season to make the cut for the event. The 3-meter competition is scheduled for Saturday with preliminaries beginning at noon and finals at 2:30 p.m.
Jenkinson is the school record holder in the 3-meter scoring a 281.925 against Maryland to qualify for the event. She broke Caitlin Karniski's record set earlier in the season. Jenkinson then finished 26th at the BIG EAST meet.
Pontes also set a personal best against Maryland in the 3-meter with a score of 281.775 to earn a spot at the Zone A meet. She finished 28th overall at the BIG EAST Championship.
The Hoyas will be two of 89 divers competing from 24 different schools. Six divers from Zone A will advance to the 2010 NCAA Diving Championship Meet.
