WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's tennis team fell to the Howard University Bison (12-3) Tuesday afternoon at the McDonough Outdoor Tennis Complex. The Hoyas battled, but fell in the final matches to drop to 3-10 on the season.
The Hoyas got the win in doubles play as junior Elizabeth Sullivan (Potomac, Md./National Cathedral School) and freshman Victoria Sekely (Mississaga, Ontario/Lorne Park Secondary School) and No. 1 forced a tiebreaker winning 9-8 (3) and clinching decisive point. At No. 3, sophomore Lauren Greco (Oakmont, Pa./Shady Slide Academy) and classmate Jacquie Harrison (Encinitas, Calif./La Costa Canyon) won 8-6.
With the score tight, Georgetown managed a pair of victories in singles play. No. 3 Harrison won 7-6 (6), 6-2 and junior Alex Sebia (Plains, Pa./Scranton Prep) at No. 4 forced three sets coming out on top 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.
Georgetown will host Towson tomorrow at the McDonough Outdoor Tennis Complex at 2 p.m.
