WASHINGTON - It had all the look and feel of the Emmy's, the Oscar's or the People's Choice Awards. Nearly 300 Georgetown University student-athletes, coaches, faculty, administrators and staff gathered at the Leavey Center on Tuesday night, May 4, for the First Annual Saxa Awards.
Georgetown's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) conceived and organized the celebration, with mentoring from Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Leadership and Development Augie Maurelli. SAAC's mission is to strive for success on and off the field and build community within Georgetown Athletics.
The ceremony featured a six-minute video produced by student-athletes that celebrated all 29 teams and the values and spirit of Georgetown Athletics. To view the video please
