WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's tennis team announced its 2010-11 schedule and captains on Tuesday. The Hoyas have a solid group of veterans returning to the court after competing in last year's BIG EAST Tournament.
Senior Bryan Miller (Henderson, Nev./Coronado) has been named the 2010-11 captain. Miller played No. 1 doubles last season with Andrew Bruhn going 7-11. He played at a number of singles slots last season going 2-2 at No. 3 singles. Miller's alternate captain will be junior Andrew Bruhn (Storrs, Conn./E.O. Smith) who went 9-8 last season. He played a majority of the year at No. 5 singles going 7-4.
The Hoyas will have three fall tournament including hosting the Georgetown Classic, a trip to the Navy Invitational and competing at ITA Regionals.
Georgetown will begin spring play on January 28 at Virginia Commonwealth University. Away matches at Lehigh, against Stetson, at Temple and at Bucknell will precede GU's first home week against St. Bonaventure and Sacred Heart.
The Hoyas will open BIG EAST play at St. John's and Connecticut before three home matches against Morgan State, Longwood and Norfolk State.
Navy, James Madison, George Washington and UMBC round out the non-conference schedule before a match at Villanova closes out the regular season.
The BIG EAST Championship will be held for the second year in a row in South Bend, Ind., April 28-May 1.
Penn, Howard, George Washington, James Madison and Lehigh will all be at the McDonough Outdoor Tennis Complex for the Georgetown Classic. Matches begin on Friday.
