WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University Athletics Department and Hoyas Unlimited will host the 24th Annual Athletic Recognition Event on Saturday, Jan. 29 in Leo J. O'Donovan Hall on campus.
The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails, followed by the awards ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Immediately after the ceremony will be a reception with heavy hors d'oeuvres and cash bar.
The Athletic Recognition Event is held annually to celebrate the accomplishments and dedication of the coaches, student-athletes and supporters of Georgetown University Athletics for the 2009-10 season.
Awards to be presented at the Athletic Recognition Event include the Greg Carroll Award for Service and Dedication to Hoyas Unlimited, the Outstanding Contribution to Athletics, the Outstanding Coaching Achievement Award and the Robert A. Duffey Scholar-Athlete Award.
The Greg Carroll Award for Service and Dedication to Hoyas Unlimited will be presented to Karen Schneider (N'76), while Michael X. McBride is the recipient for the Outstanding Contribution to Athletics.
The Outstanding Coaching Achievement Award will be presented to Head Women's Basketball Coach Terri Williams-Flournoy, who last year led the team to a 26-7 overall record and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Robert A. Duffey Scholar-Athlete Award will be presented to former men's golfer Vincenzo Salina, who helped lead the Hoyas to the 2010 BIG EAST Championship as he claimed medalist honors.
