GAME 2 MAUI INVITATIONAL 2011 GU HOYAS VS CHAMINADE SILVERSWORDS

Wake-Up Call, HHC Blog & Photo Postings, Buffet Breakfast,  Choose Good Luck Hoya Attire,  Arrive to Arena Early & Wear Gray--We Are Georgetown!

The photo to your left is my Hoya basketball road routine that I can perform in my sleep!  It even started in my high school days at the campus of Georgetown Preparatory School at the Rockville campus or it is now known:  The North Bethesda Campus???  More about this later!

After a tough loss to Kansas I reflected on the positive experience our young players had.  Still, I was distracted by having to face the legendary Giant-Killers the Chaminade Silverswords.  So after sending my Maui Day 1 Blog Post to HHC Blogmaster, FL Hoya (The Leader of Generation Burton), I got to the last seating of the Ono Grill Buffet at the  Westin Maui Resort.  I was not happy about the large price tag it boasted, but in running a little late it was about the convenience.  I was very surprised that this meal exceeded my expectations.  In addition to the excellent quality of the usual breakfast items, their miso soup, grilled fish with white rice, fresh tomatoes, and pineapple were truly world class.  I look forward to my return visit in about 30 minutes--I must be ready for the 12:00 Noon start time (5:00 PM ET).

I was honored to sit with fellow DoubleHoya Gary Fegan at courtside with some of my new fellow NYC Hoya alums & friends.  Please note Gary is the son of legendary Georgetown Prep former football coach James Fegan.  In fact his real name is James Fegan, Jr., and he has a son James Fegan III--It does not get any better than that for a Hoya Basketball fan.  I do want to take a moment and thank Gary’s father Jim Fegan for teaching me everything I know about “School Spirit the Jesuit/Georgetown Way.”

It seems like only yesterday I was a scared, little 9th grade freshman at Georgetown Prep when Coach Fegan, my Physical Education Teacher, lectured us on the finer points of coming to games and supporting your school.  I can still hear the speech and his distinctive voice.  Indeed James Fegan was a great mentor, and role model to me that I think about every day.  It was great sitting with Gary Fegan talking about the game as the Hoyas slowly pulled away against a gritty Chaminade team--Boy could those kids shoot the ball--Every time they got an open 3-pointer their players bottomed it out!

After the game I relaxed and had lunch with my friends and fellow Hoya alums Joannah & Kevin Graham riding their Jeep!  I then hit the Westin Maui Luau and saw quite a show.  Now its time to get ready for the Memphis game--it will be a war.  I cannot wait.

I LOVE MAUI--WE ARE GEORGETOWN!
