WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's tennis team dropped a dual match to the Emory University Eagles on Thursday morning at the McLean Sport and Health Club. The Hoyas fell 5-2 to drop to 0-6 on the season.
In doubles play, sophomore Charlie Caris (Des Moines, Iowa/Theodore Roosevelt) and his partner senior Bryan Miller (Henderson, Nev./Coronado) who their match by a score of 8-1. However, as the Hoyas dropped the other two matches, GU lost the doubles point.
At No. 2 singles, Caris defeated Chris Goodwin, brother of Assistant Coach Mike Goodwin, 6-3, 6-3. In the No. 4 match, junior Brian Ward (Darwin, Minn./Litchfield) managed a huge three-set victory over Will Humphreys. Ward won the first match, 6-2, but fell 6-4 in the second. He battled back for the 6-0 victory in the third.
Despite the success of Ward and Caris, the Hoyas eventually lost, 5-2.
Georgetown will meet Bucknell on Saturday in Lewisburg, Pa., for a 12:30 p.m., match.
