Final Stats
WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's tennis team won its first BIG EAST match of the season with a 4-3 victory over the University of Connecticut Huskies on Saturday in Storrs, Conn. The Hoyas are now 6-8 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
The Blue & Gray secured the doubles point winning at No. 1 and No. 2. The pair of Andrew Bruhn and Michael Clarke managed the 8-3 victory at No. 1. Additionally, the No. 2 duo of Bryan Miller and Charlie Caris won by a score of 8-4.
Connecticut won three matches in singles play to make a comeback, but the Hoyas managed to stay strong. Bruhn was victorious at No. 3 winning 6-4, 7-5. No. 4 Miller followed suit with a 7-6, 6-1 win.
The true test came in No. 1 singles as Clarke was forced to win his match to clinch the victory for the Hoyas. He battled in a pair of tough sets eventually winning 7-6, 7-5 to give Georgetown the victory.
The Blue & Gray will host Morgan State on Wednesday at the McDonough Outdoor Tennis courts. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
