WASHINGTON - Senior goalie Jack Davis (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) has been named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week by the conference, after leading the Georgetown men's lacrosse team (2-1, 1-0 BIG EAST) to a 13-9 victory over St. John's on Saturday. Davis had a season-high 14 saves and two ground balls in the Hoyas victory.
The honor was the fourth time in two seasons that a GU lacrosse player has earned offensive or defensive player of the week honors and the second time that Davis has earned the weekly honor. Davis was also named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on March 8, 2010.
Davis, who was hampered by injuries during the 2010 season, has started all three of Georgetown's games during the 2011 season, earning victories against Jacksonville and St. John's. He is currently second in the BIG EAST, averaging 10.67 saves per game.
