WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's tennis team lost to cross-town rival George Washington University on Saturday in a match played at the McDonough Outdoor Tennis Complex. The loss drops the Hoyas to 6-11 on the season, as they look towards their final three regular-season matches.
The Hoyas lost each of their three doubles matches, with the No. 1 pair of Michael Clarke (Maraval, Trinidad and Tobago/Saddlebrook Prep) and Andrew Bruhn (Storrs, Conn./E.O. Smith), and the No. 3 duo of Casey Distaso (The Woodlands, Texas/Edmond North) and Brian Ward (Darwin, Minn./Litchfield) putting in the strongest performances for the team, despite ultimately falling 8-4 and 8-3, respectively.
The squad fared better in singles play, as four out of six Hoyas won at least one set and pushed their matches to best-of-three contests. No. 2 Bruhn got the lone points for the team, winning his match 7-5, 2-6, 6-4. It was the second win in a row and the second of the week for the junior, who won his singles match against Navy on April 6.
Georgetown will be back in action on Saturday when the Hoyas travel to Baltimore, Md. to play UMBC at 11 a.m.
