Hoyas Drop Decision to UMBC

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's tennis squad fell to the University of Maryland- Baltimore County Retrievers Sunday afternoon in Catonsville, Md. Georgetown lost 5-2 to drop to 6-11 overall.

Georgetown dropped the doubles point despite a close No. 2 match featuring senior Bryan Miller and sophomore Charlie Caris. The pair fell by a score of 9-7.

The Hoyas won at No. 2 singles as Caris battled to a 6-4, 5-7, 10-7 decision to improve to 6-5 at the No. 2 position for the season. Freshman Alex Friedlich also picked up the victory with a 7-5, 7-6 win at No. 5. Friedlich is an even 7-7 on the year.

The Blue & Gray will have its final regular season match of the season on Wednesday as the squad travels to Villanova for a 1 p.m., BIG EAST matchup. The team's James Madison match scheduled for Tuesday has been canceled due to inclement weather.
