Final Stats
WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's tennis team concluded regular season play on Wednesday afternoon with a 4-3 victory against the Villanova University Wildcats in Villanova, Pa. The Hoyas finished the year 7-12 overall and 2-1 in BIG EAST play.
The Hoyas lost the doubles point with just one pair coming out on top. The No. 2 duo of senior Bryan Miller and sophomore Charlie Caris won 8-6, but it was not enough to pick up the point.
In singles play, the Hoyas came back from a deficit with four victories. At No. 1, junior Michael Clarke managed the three-set win by a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. Caris followed him at No. 3 battling to a 7-5, 7-6 victory. Miller followed suit at No. 4 with another three-set match pulling out the 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 win.
Finally, the match was won as freshman Alex Friedlich handily won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 as the Hoyas pulled out the 4-3 victory.
Georgetown will open BIG EAST Tournament play in South Bend, Ind., beginning on April 28.
