WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's tennis squad fell, 4-0, to the No. 6 Marquette University Golden Eagles in a consolation match at the BIG EAST Championship on Saturday in South Bend, Ind. The Hoyas finish the season with a record of 7-14 overall.
In a match where play stops as soon as a winner is decided, the Golden Eagles made quick work of the Blue & Gray. The teams began with singles play, breaking from the typical dual match routine.
No. 1 Michael Clarke lost 6-1, 6-0 and Charlie Caris dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision at No. 2. The No. 5 and No. 6 matches also didn't go well for the Hoyas as No. 5 Alex Friedlich lost 6-2, 6-3 and No. 6 Rafael Notario fell 6-1, 6-3.
Andrew Bruhn looked to have a chance at No. 2 as he battled in the first set fall 7-6 and was up in the second, 3-2, before the match was called.
The Hoyas will return everyone except seniors Bryan Miller and Tim Walsh next season.
