2011 Schedule

WASHINGTON - Highlighted by 11 home games, including six against BIG EAST Conference opponents and one against the NCAA National Runner-up from last year, Georgetown University Head Women's Soccer Coach Dave Nolan announced the 2011 Hoya schedule.

"This Fall's schedule is another real challenge for us as we look to return to the NCAA tournament," Nolan said. "The extremely competitive nature of BIG EAST play coupled with a very difficult non-conference set of games will force us to be at our best if we hope to achieve success. Anytime you can play against the National Champions (Notre Dame) and National Finalist (Stanford) you get tested, I always tell the girl's if we want to be the best we have to beat the best and they are all excited to get another crack at these teams and the rest we will play. There will be a target on our back this year but everybody is excited for the challenges ahead."

Following a preseason game at Maryland on Sunday, Aug. 13 (7 p.m.), the Hoyas open the 2011 regular season on Friday, Aug. 19, visiting George Washington. Georgetown hosts James Madison on Friday, Sept. 9 (3 p.m.) and St. Francis (Pa.) on Sunday, Sept. 11 (1 p.m.) as the last two games before conference play starts.

The Hoyas BIG EAST schedule starts out on the road at Seton Hall on Friday, Sept. 16 (7 p.m.), before returning home to host Rutgers on Sunday, Sept. 18 (noon). The Hoyas visit Syracuse on Friday, Sept. 23 (7 p.m.) and then travel to play at St. John's on Sunday, Sept. 25 (1 p.m.).

From there, Georgetown returns home for four-straight games against conference opponents. The following weekend, GU hosts Cincinnati on Friday, Oct. 7 (3 p.m.) and then Louisville on Sunday, Oct. 9 (1 p.m.).

Nolan's squad then travels to play at defending national champion Notre Dame (Friday, Oct. 14, 7:30 p.m.) and then at DePaul (Sunday, Oct. 16, 1 p.m.), before closing out the regular season at home on Friday, Oct. 21 against Villanova (2:30 p.m.).

The BIG EAST Tournament will be held from Oct. 27 (first rounds at campus sites) to Nov. 6. The 2011 NCAA Tournament will begin on Nov. 13, with the first four rounds being held at campus sites.

Georgetown finished the 2010 regular season with a 15-7-2 overall record, including a 7-3-1 mark in the BIG EAST.
