WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Lee Reed announced today that Kim Insalaco has been named the Director of Hoyas Unlimited, a fund-raising arm of the Hoyas athletics department.
A former member of the United States women's Olympic ice hockey team, Insalaco joins the Hoyas after serving as the Associate Director of Annual Giving at The Holton-Arms School in nearby Bethesda, Md.
"I'm thrilled to have Kim join our family," Reed said. "She was one of the top collegiate athletes in her sport as a collegian and had the honor to represent her country at the highest level of competition during her career. Her work in fund-raising will be a tremendous asset to our program."
While at Holton-Arms, a non-profit, private college prep school for girls' in grades 3 through 12 founded in 1901, she helped to coordinate with leadership to implement major gift and annual giving strategies.
As an athlete, Insalaco was a veteran of two World Championships, and made her Olympic debut in Torino, Italy in 2006 with Team USA, winning a bronze medal.
As an undergraduate, Insalaco played for Brown University, where upon completing her four-year career in 2003, she totaled 127 points with 45 goals and 82 assists. She was a two-time captain for the Bears, and as a junior, she scored the game-winning goal in the ECACHL's championship game and the winner in the national semifinal game against Minnesota. She led Brown to two ECAC Championships and competed in two NCAA Frozen Fours.
After graduating from Brown, the Rochester, N.Y. native played two seasons for the Oakville Ice of the National Women's Hockey League in Canada. Insalaco also spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Cornell University, helping to guide the Big Red from 2006-09.
Established in 1970, Hoyas Unlimited is an organization consisting of dedicated volunteers whose mission is to support excellence across all of Georgetown's 29 intercollegiate athletics programs. Donations raised through Hoyas Unlimited provide direct support to each athletic program.
