WASHINGTON - Draws have been announced for the Georgetown Classic which will be hosted by the men's and women's tennis teams at the McDonough Outdoor Tennis Complex this weekend. Play will begin on Friday with competition going through Sunday.

On the men's side, the University of Maryland- Baltimore County, Bucknell University, Lehigh University, George Washington University, the University of the District of Columbia and the University of Maryland will all be in attendance.

The tournament will open play for the Hoya men who return six players from last season including seniors Andrew Bruhn (Storrs, Conn./E.O. Smith) and Brian Ward (Darwin, Minn./Litchfield). Junior Charlie Caris (Des Moines, Iowa/Theodore Roosevelt) is the fourth seed on the singles side. Caris finished last season with a record of 11-15 tying for the most wins of the season by a Hoya male.

For the women, UMBC, Bucknell and Longwood University will be in attendance as Georgetown looks to build upon its successful opening weekend.

The Hoyas won both flights at the UNC Wilmington Fall Invitational last weekend. Sophomore Tina Tehrani (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) didn't lose a set en route to the A flight championship going 5-0. Junior Vicky Sekely (Mississaga, Ontario, Lorne Park Secondary School) followed with a title in the B flight going 5-0 with all wins coming against opponents from Furman University.

The Hoyas return a solid core from last season's success, but won't have the services of Stephanie Wetmore who won the Georgetown Classic a year ago and led the Hoyas back to the BIG EAST Tournament. Wetmore exhausted her eligibility and is now an assistant coach for the Blue & Gray.

Play will begin at 10 a.m., on Friday at the McDonough Outdoor Tennis Complex.
