WASHINGTON - The No. 7 Georgetown University women's tennis team defeated the No. 10 Marquette Golden Eagles, 4-2, on Thursday morning at the Cayce Fitness and Tennis Center in Cayce, South Carolina. With the win, the Hoyas improve to 8-10 while Marquette slides to 3-19. Georgetown will advance to the quarterfinals to take on No. 2 Xavier on Friday morning.

The Hoyas were able to capture the win in the opening round off of a great performance in singles matches. In No. 1-No. 4 singles matches, Emily Novikov (No. 1), Ashley Kennedy (No. 2), Katie Garofolo-Ro (No. 3) and Paige Gilbert (No. 4) all secured wins to clinch the opening round win for the Hoyas.
