Final Stats
WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's tennis team fell to the University of Pennsylvania Quakers on Wednesday afternoon in Philadelphia, Pa. The Hoyas battled, but dropped the 6-1 decision to move to 4-2 on the season.
In doubles play, the Hoyas won at the No. 2 spot but couldn't pick up the point. The No. 2 pair of sophomore Andrew Dottino (New York, N.Y./The Pendleton School) and freshman Alex Tropiano (Laurel Hollow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) defeated Zach Katz and Jeremy Court by a score of 8-6. The No. 1 and No. 3 pairs both lost to their Quaker opponents, 8-5.
In singles play, Dottino was the lone winner at No. 4 battling in to pull out the win. He managed the 7-6(5), 7-6(9) victory over Jeremy Court, but it was not enough for the Blue & Gray.
Also posting close scores was No. 1 senior Andrew Bruhn (Storrs, Conn./E.O. Smith) who lost 6-4, 7-6(4) and No. 3 junior Charlie Caris (Des Moines, Iowa/Theodore Roosevelt) who fell 6-4, 7-5.
Georgetown will be back in action on Saturday at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
