WASHINGTON - Georgetown Head Women's Soccer Coach Dave Nolan announced today that seven student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to attend the University and play on the Hilltop.
The incoming group of seven student-athletes joins a program that returns 18 letterwinners from last year's squad that went 15-6 and advanced to the semifinals of the BIG EAST Tournament. In the last five years under the direction of Nolan, Georgetown has won 69 games, advanced to the 2010 Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament, made two NCAA appearances and reached the semifinals of the BIG EAST Tournament two times.
"This class is another strong recruiting class for us as we look to build upon the success of the program of recent years," Nolan said. "I have to give a lot of credit to my staff, Mike (Calabretta) and Naomi (Meiburger), for their hard work in identifying and addressing the needs that we have for 2012 and beyond. Primarily it gives us greater defensive competition and depth in goal, but there are also some attacking personalities who I believe can help us next year. I am excited to welcome all seven student-athletes to Georgetown University and our soccer program."
Sarah Adams (San Diego, Calif./Westview)
Helped her San Diego Surf club team to two national championships, 2011 U17 ECNL & 2009 U15 USYSA, where she won the Golden Boot Award ... Nolan on Adams: "Sarah is a very attack-minded player with great creative instincts for the game. She has a great engine, and covers a lot of ground on both sides of the ball. She can dictate a game and also complement other good players in many ways. I am excited to see how she develops over the next four years."
Kara Klontz (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase)
Captained BCC to a state championship this year and was a four-time state champion during her career ... Named Second Team All-Met and all state in 2011 ... Was a two time member of the Maryland Olympic Development Program and plays her club soccer at Bethesda Soccer Club.
Nolan on Klontz: "Kara is an athletic left-sided defender who can play on the flank or central. A good tackler, she can also distribute the ball very well. She has a great work ethic, a strong desire to succeed and has very good leadership skills. We are happy to welcome her to our team for next year."
Eliza Loring, (Dedham, Mass./Nobles & Greenough)
Loring plays her club soccer for the Stars of Mass, one of the leading clubs in the nation ... Helped them to a No. 3 national ranking in 2011 and is a three-time state champion ... Last fall, she captained her high school team to an ISL championship and was named first team all-state and all-league.
Nolan on Loring: "Eliza is a brave, strong and versatile player who can play in the midfield or on the backline. Technically sound, and a good reader of the game she is very competitive and I expect her to challenge strongly next year."
Christina Mangels (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City)
Mangels is a member of the Albertson Fury 93 and was a member of the East New Olympic Development Program from 2006-10. She also played lacrosse in high school.
Nolan on Mangels: "Christina is one of two incoming strong goalkeepers who we are excited to see develop over her time at Georgetown. She has great size and range and covers her goal very well. An excellent athlete, we are pleased that she has chosen to join us for her college career."

Nolan on Mohan: "Neela is a very consistent, wide defender. A good tackler with the ability to play out of the back, she gives us more options along the backline. She has played at the highest level of club soccer and knows how to compete. We are happy to add her to our program for the next four years."
Marina Paul (Aliso Vieja, Calif./Laguna Beach)
