Women's Tennis Downs Lynn University, 5-3

Final Stats

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's tennis team took down the Lynn University Fighting Knights (7-2) on Tuesday in Boca Raton, Fla., at the Perper Tennis Complex by a score of 5-3. GU is now 6-3 on the season finishing up its Spring Break trip.

The Hoyas won two of the doubles matches to start out strong. The No. 2 pair of sophomore Tina Tehrani (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) and junior Vicky Sekely (Mississaga, Ontario/Lorne Park Secondary School) won, 8-4. Freshman Sophie Panarese (Milton, Mass./Milton Academy) and sophomore Madeline Jaeger (Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach) followed that up with a 8-5 decision at No. 3 as the Blue & Gray went ahead, 2-1.

Georgetown clinched the match in singles play with the big story coming from Tehrani at No. 2. The sophomore downed Sabine Krause, ranked No. 30 in the nation in Division II, in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.

Sophomore Kelly Comolli (Newburyport, Mass./Philips Exeter Academy) battled in a three-set win at No. 3 as the Hoyas were looking strong. Comolli defeated Andrea Berkova 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.

Rounding out the wins was Jaeger at No. 5 who managed the 6-1, 6-0 win over Aleks Vukadinovic.

Georgetown will begin a 12-match home stand on Saturday as the Blue & Gray hosts the University of South Florida in a BIG EAST matchup at the McDonough Outdoor Tennis Courts. The match is scheduled to begin at noon.
