Butler Named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University women's basketball freshman center Natalie Butler (Fairfax Station, Va./Lake Braddock) was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week on Monday after an outstanding start to the season. These are the conference's first weekly awards of the 2013-14 season.

Butler averaged 16.3 ppg and 13.7 rpg while posting three double-doubles to begin her college career. She is currently shooting 56.3 percent from the floor and has seven blocks on the year. Butler led the Hoyas with 20 points and 13 boards at South Dakota State as well as 16 points and 15 rebounds in a loss to No. 10/11 California.

Georgetown is currently 1-2 on the season under first-year Head Coach Jim Lewis.

Butler is the first BIG EAST Rookie of the Week for the Hoyas since Dominique Vitalis won it on February 11, 2013. The Hoyas have had 33 total player's win the award dating back to 1982-83.
