LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The Georgetown University swimming and diving team was swept by Rider University on Friday afternoon, with the men falling 151-86 and the women losing 138-105 at the Richard Coppola Pool on the campus of Rider.
The Hoya men's 200 yard medley relay team gave GU its first win in the second event of the meet, as Michael Young, Christian Kilgore, Martin Vanin and Matthew Mandel earned 11 points in a time of 1:36.34.
Vanin went on to win the 100 yard buttefly, the 14th event of the meet, in 52.41. Mandel earned a second place finish in the 100 yard freestyle in 48.84, with William Leach earning a third place finish.
Michael Ng scored for the Hoyas, winning the 100 yard backstroke in 53.62, with Jack Muehlheuser and Cal Rohde taking third and fourth, respectively.
On the women's side Nicole Tronolone turned in a strong performance in the meet's distance freestyle races, getting started early with a second place finish in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:40.69, as Kim DiNapoli and Emily Hall finished third and fourth. In the meet's 19th event, Tronolone won the 500 yard freestyle in 5:15.31, as Sarah Chiles finished second in 5:20.31.
Erica Fabbri won the 100 yard freestyle in 54.12 after having earned a second place finish in the 50 yard freestyle in 24.97. Molly Gaynor finished third in the 50 yard freestyle, before coming back in the 13th event, the 100 yard butterfly, to win in a time of 58.73, while Jillian Carter finished second in 1:00.44.
In the 200 yard freestyle, Erin Timochenko earned a victory, finishing in 1:58.55, as Chiles finished third in 2:00.87. Casey Bandman took second place in the 200 yard IM in 2:14.17.
