WASHINGTON - Georgetown men's tennis opened the season today at the Farnsworth Invitational hosted by Princeton University in Princeton, N.J. Teams participating in the Invitational include Binghamton, Bucknell, Buffalo, Columbia, Cornell, Fairleigh Dickinson, Monmouth, NYIT, Penn, Princeton, St. John's, Temple and Yale.
Friday marked day one of the three day tournament.
Freshman Yannik Mahlangu had a big debut for the Hoyas. He won a total of three matches on the first day including two doubles and one singles. Mahlangu represents one of four freshmen on the 2013-2014 men's tennis squad, which returns six student-athletes.
Junior Shane Korber won a match against Cornell's Bernardo Casares after fighting off an unbelievable five match points.
Play continues on Saturday at the 23 court complex at the Lenz Tennis Center in Princeton, N.J.
